Love for Matcha Will Keep Going Strong
Posted by SHAUN PILAPIL
Matcha by golly wow… You’re the one that I’ve been waiting for forever.
This is how I describe my first time falling in love with matcha.
WHEN I MET MATCHA
I remember that fateful day when we went into a premiere Starbucks.
I was with my mom and sister, who are both coffee addicts and they always get the Chocolate Chip Frappuccino. I didn’t like coffee and chocolate as much as they did. If they went for a chocolate cake, I usually went for a Orange Poppyseed Loaf or a Blueberry Cheesecake. I usually chose something different.
So when I asked the barista for an alternative, they offered I try a Green Tea Cream drink.
Mind you, this was 2004 in the Philippines, so I rarely saw drinks being served from the counter that were not brown.
Ayayay yayay.
It was so smooth and a bit grassy tasting. I felt like I was being hugged by a fictional bear that had grass for fur and whipped cream for ears. The bear smelled so fresh and yet was so fluffy and creamy.
My sister and mother thought I was crazy for suddenly cuddling a throw pillow on the couch. They didn’t understand the bliss that I was going through.
GTKY STAGE LEAD ME TO MATCHA
I had to get to know this drink. I also wanted to know how to make the drink since I want to make it less sweet and more often whenever I wanted.
So the search for what went into this wonderful drink was on.
Matcha was its main ingredient. Google showed me that it was this green tea powder that gets mixed into water then adding milk makes it a latte.
Below is the simplest recipe for matcha from within this site.
Directions
- Mix all ingredients, stir well.
- Ready to enjoy.
*Matcha Latte – Same recipe as above but use more milk – froth it up with an egg whisk.

STAYING INLOVE WITH MATCHA BECAUSE OF WHAT IT GIVES ME
The benefits I discovered matcha could give and really gave me were just perfect.
I fell in love with the simplicity and the story of where it is from. But I fell in love most with how it was so good for me.
Matcha made me more blooming (really looking as if I really am in love) because of the antioxidants and the anti-cancer properties it contained. Helping me feel soothed after a stressful weak.
Matcha also gave me the energy boost I needed that didn’t make me feel jittery or worsen my insomnia. In fact when i had a matcha-based drink in the day, I felt good throughout the day and slept better at night.
Nowadays, there are more people in the Philippines who have discovered and have fallen inlove with matcha.
I stay inlove with this drink and I get my matcha from Teas.com.au which offers Japanese tea and more from their site.
My love for matcha has become stronger as I discover other recipes that involve matcha and as it keeps getting stronger I will help spread the word to everyone.
